Building on this success, Joe joined Raymond James Investment Services as a consultant. In this role, he was responsible for prospecting and recruiting Wealth Managers as Independent Contractors, leveraging the Raymond James platform. Peter O’Donnell FCSI

Business Development

Peter’s career started 37 years ago before the industry-changing ‘Big Bang’ and the financial crisis of 1987. He has worked for a number of globally leading firms starting with Hoare Govett, HSBC James Capel for 16 years, Brewin Dolphin as an Investment Director and most recently Tilney, now Evelyn Partners. His latest move has seen him take a consulting role with Raymond James, London Wall having stepped down from day-to-day investment management and relinquishing his authorisations.

Throughout his career, he has been involved with the management of private client money as well as Corporates, Trusts, Pensions and Charities. He prides himself in always thinking of clients first, which is increasingly relevant in the current climate.

The experience Peter has gathered over his career has never been more useful in putting into perspective the current market volatility and developments for some of the younger generation who have only seen the past decade as an almost straight line upwards. This perspective helps to protect client assets in times of genuine market stress. In his new role at Raymond James, London Wall Peter will be working alongside Investment Managers with whom he has worked with for over 20 years.

Peter is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI. He lives in Welwyn Garden City with his wife and 2 children. He is an avid football fan and regular attendee at Arsenal so is well experienced of the highs and lows that comes with long term ‘ownership’.

Edward Furness-Smith

Business Development

Edward graduated from Durham University with a master’s degree in theology before beginning his career at PwC on their graduate scheme as an accountant. Following this, he moved into investment management in 2006, training at Brown Shipley, where he obtained his investment qualifications and ultimately became a Chartered Fellow of the Securities Institute. He then spent eight years at WH Ireland growing the discretionary side of the private client business and a further five years in the same role at JM Finn. Edward specialises in managing private client assets across personal portfolios, ISAs, Self-Invested Personal Pensions (SIPPs) and trusts. Edward joined Raymond James, London Wall in October 2022, where he was reunited with a number of former colleagues from JM Finn, including Harry Burnham. His latest move has seen him take a consulting role with Raymond James, London Wall.

Edward, his family and their dogs live in Oxfordshire, where they enjoy country pursuits, gardening (time permitting) and, if particularly lucky, some cricket.

Gregor McNie

Business Development

Gregor’s career in the city started almost 40 years ago. In January 1986, he joined James Capel – at the time, one of the most respected private client firms in the city. Following the deregulation resulting from the “Big Bang”, James Capel became a wholly owned subsidiary of HSBC. Subsequently, in 2006 Gregor moved to Brewin Dolphin as an Investment Director and later joined several colleagues at Ashcourt Rowan (now known as Evelyn Partners) in 2015.

Gregor’s arrival at Raymond James – London Wall, sees him taking a change in role. He joins in a consultancy role, having stepped down from day-to-day investment management, working alongside investment managers he has known for three decades.

Gregor’s team has navigated periods of significantly higher interest rates, providing a wealth of experience to investors. Their background includes the Dotcom booms and crashes, various Asian, European, and Greek debt crises, the global financial crisis of 2007-2009, and numerous conflicts. This extensive perspective has been instrumental in helping to protect client assets and laying the groundwork for growth when market conditions are favourable.

Throughout his career, Gregor has been involved with the management of private client money as well as corporates, trusts, pensions and charities. He believes the client’s objectives are key to building portfolios that meet their aspirations.

Always a very early riser, Gregor has a passion for walking in almost any environment! He enjoys a challenge and has cycled from Lands End to John O’Groats, solo. In his spare time, he has a keen interest in local history and is a member of the London Topographical Society, Ipswich Maritime Trust and The Ipswich Society. Gregor is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI and lives in Ipswich.

Daniel Sargent

Financial Consultant

Daniel has always been fascinated by the City and stock markets, having taken his first exam back in his University days and which ultimately led him to head up the Court of Protection department at his previous employer.

After a career break, Daniel has returned to the City as a Financial Consultant, joining the London Wall Branch of Raymond James. In his new role, he utilises his extensive experience and knowledge to introduce the Investment Management team to clients and industry professionals.

He is reunited with a number of former colleagues including Luke Brampton whom he worked alongside for many years relating to the Court of Protection.

Daniel follows most sports and in particular football, where he tries to enjoy the ups and downs as a lifetime season ticket holder at Portsmouth as well as taking the dog for long walks. He still follows markets closely and is an avid reader on the subject.
